Thank you. I will take that as a compliment. I enjoy my grasp of the English language which involves much use of adjective, noun, verb, pronoun, adverb, and some more adjective. Sometimes I even make some up.

I am more than happy to give pointers.

    Thank you Cze Cze.
I knew in the end you would succumb under pressure.

I have regained my freedom to use more than one word when talking!
    Aldous dictates the rules.

    Point counter point.

Second-to-last scene of the second act. Nor do I believe this one ends darkly.

It is the TIME Magazine answer what is wrong.

A family of nations cannot succeed as a nation-state.

And that is the crux of the matter in the history of Russia.
The Romanovs tried it, the Communists tried it and now VVP tries it.
It is not going to work. The repression the try needs will unavoidably bring about a new revolution. In time.

You are right. Russia is dangerous.
When it tries to succeed in the impossible venture it has no other choice but to turn the aggression out again.
I'm actually worried about Russia being a threat... I was even after reading that article. When I tell people this, they chide me about "living in the 80's" or something. Do you think there's much chance of there being an alliance between China and Russia, perhaps along with several Islamic states, against the West (meaning Western Europe and the United States)?

China is more conciliatory toward the West, if ever so slightly. It has more to lose than Russia. The enmity of Russia and China because of the Siberian question prevent them from becoming true allies.
The Soviet Union appeased Hitler and had the WWII rolling by attacking Poland.
The war on terrorism concerns only the internal affairs in Russia and China.
    Both have large Islamic minorities.
The Soviets helped Khomeiny while he hanged the Communists in Teheran.
China will be independent. Russia will play the old game.

I personally believe Putin is a reasonable choice for Person of the Year, and not because I approve of him (I don't).

The Person of the Year is selected on the basis of how much news he/she/it made, which more or less correlates to how much influence he/she/it wields in the public arena, and how effectively he/she/it wields it.

By this measure, Putin is arguably Man of the Year.

But Putin was KGB once upon a time. He rules in Russia the old-fashioned way. Having read The Gulag Archipelago, I don't consider that even remotely a good thing.

You're right, he is very influental. I just hope they would have picked some other influental person who inteds to do good things and who wouldn't want to rule the world...

Well, when such a person shows up on the scene and makes more news than Putin, no doubt he or she will be selected.

Putin has that manipulative dictator feel to him. Not a leader in the true sense at all, not even close.
