Yes it would. But the problem is that this is probably unrealistic.
Since there will simply be too many of us to make a societly that is I will say laid back as that. Also in some places in the world there is a way too big population density to make a completly liberal society.
We today simply need and consume a way too much resources by size and variety for this dinamic to work on the long run. (in my opinion)

Plus some societies traditionally like "iron fist". In other words if you have a scattered communities with very strong individualism they will probably be a easy traget for a collective that uses more totalitarian / hard socialistic logic. The age of colonializm is proably the best example of this.

Aww, AO, you spoiled my lovely utopian day dream
Currently submerged under an avalanche of books and paper work. I may come back up for air from time to time.

Why do you ask? Did I just do something to revoke my ENFJ license? D:

I agree in that I think our view of what a modern industrial world is gradually becoming obsolete. However I'm not terribly worried about it. Every time the wheel of fate turns some groups move lower while others move higher.

But I have no solutions. I have no solutions.
Here is the solution if you are willing to accept it:

If you are really concerned about politics, then ask yourself specifically what issue is really most important to you. Then look for how you can positively contribute on a local level. All domestic issues essentially have some local analog. Education, taxes, environment, etc... all have local analogs (or at the very least state analogs). Once you can actually contribute, then you will find your despair decreasing, because you are actually making a difference.

Also remember that every trapese artist had to start out shoveling elephant dung. The most effective people at the local level eventually become influencial at the state level. And the most effective people at the state level eventually become influencial at the national level. This is your best chance at affecting things on a national (or global) level. However there is one danger, the idea known as "think globally, act locally". Thinking globally will only make you despair. Instead think locally. Take real interest in your local community and put all of your passion into improving your local community as much as possible. That is how you will be truly effective locally, and that is your best chance at ever having an effect on the national (or global) stage.

Oh cheer up. If everything went like clockwork, there would be no one to make fun of.
