Its ironic to see how silent the "Drill baby Drill" crowd are now

These folk are all about profits , i mean BP as well as the republican politicians who hate ANY kind of regulation of business. I love it when they want to privatize the profits; but want to "socialize" the risks/damages.

The Government should not pay a single penny for the cleanup.
BP will have to pay the ENTIRE cost of the cleanup AND also the money lost/damages for the people living in the coast. If that means bankrupting the corp..so be it

That quote keeps repeating in my head.

Really, this is a huge environmental disaster. Worse that Exxon Valdez. Not sure if it is worse than Chernobyl. I would not be surprised if this bankrupted BP and wonder what kind of impact something like that would have on the economy.

People need to be ANGRY about this. One of my conservative, anti-Obama friends posted in his fb status the other day something about Obama playing golf, while "an environmental tragedy" takes place. A conversation started that was essentially a back and forth of pro/anti-Obama.

I couldn't believe it. Something this devastating, and people can only argue their poorly-formed political beliefs? Needless to say I called them all idiots. In actuality I redirected the argument into why this was allowed to happen in the first place, and why weren't people informed, but you get the idea. I WANTED to call them idiots.

I'm sure many of you have seen this? If not, I'm sure you expected it.

And I respectfully refrained from reminding my friend of that refrain...

Very interesting. So does anyone know how long it takes to drill the relief wells?

The human tendency is to focus on the specific event and details, when what is needed is a change in entire perspectives.

Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only then will you find money cannot be eaten.

I've read that they are targeting to complete it in August. They didn't say whether it's the beginning of August or the end of it.
