    My state has a "Safe Haven" law--you are allowed to leave a baby at a fire station, hospital emergency room, or staffed EMT clinic. You do not have to give your name but the baby must be less than 7 days old and you must give it to a person--you can't leave them without notifying someone.

    We've had at least 3 cases in the past year of people leaving their baby in a dumpster. All three were found alive and survived. One was actually caught on a camera, tracked down, and arrested. I'm not sure what the charge is or the sentence that may be handed down.
