It works the other way as well

You guys tend to set the trends in pop culture and stuff.

You celebrate Halloween on massive scale, which then causes it to catch on here
Same thing happened with Wicca and other spiritualism
But also in other areas: new therapies, new scientific discoveries, new techniques such as Parelli's and Ttouch, etc etc

Because you're so big, you make an impact when somethign catches on there, and it inevitably gets exported here.

    it's annoying...
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

Why is Australia always compared to the US and not Europe? It seems a bit more fitting, despite the geography.

And perhaps I'm annoyed because it's never compared to anything else. Maybe comparing it to orangutans and jello would be more fun. Or more unique, to say the least.

In comparative history it is natural to compare Australia to South America and North America because we are branches of the same European tree.

Claudio Veliz, the comparative historian, compares Australia with the countries of South and Central America and he also compares Australia with the countries of North America. The USA is only one of the countries of North and South America. Of course the USA arrogates the name, "America", for itself.

The USA gets so much attention on this site because it is dominated by self named 'Americans'.

The USA has been the largest economy in the world for more than one hundred years, and so has overwhelming power. But as we know power corrupts and overwhelming power corrupts absolutely.

And this is reflected in the manners and mores of the 'Americans' here.

We met you en masse for the first time in WW II and our artists naturally depicted you. Perhaps you should visit our National Art Gallery to see how even your closest friends regard you.

Don't be ridiculous. Australia is not our closest friend.

We both have some center-right political tendencies.

    Racism too.

    Who then, Canada?

Canada wouldn't even support you in the Vietnam war.

Perhaps Britain. But they remember how you cut the jugular of the British Empire at Suez.

Surely Japan. But you burnt them to the ground before testing your weapons of mass destruction on their helpless civilian populations.

As the largest economy for more than one hundred years you have power. But touchingly, not only do you want power but you want to be loved as well.

This is the classic profile of an abuser.

So I can understand you don't quite know who your friends are.

But you can rest in the knowledge that countries don't have friends, they only have interests.

But how tragic for you, for you will never know whether you are loved for yourself or for your wealth and power.

The comparison is stupid. The US is a European country that just happens to be as big as the continent itself and have more minorities.

I think you are forgetting that we wouldn't even support ourselves during the Vietnam war.

Not a smart war, that one.
