The Enlightenment replaced blind faith with evidence and reason.
Blind faith at least gave everyone something to look up to in order to transcend their base instincts, a virtuous idea to live for. A discipline to abide by for a greater good. Those that valued evidence and reason still managed to have their ways anyway, think of the renaissance men, or the muslim scientists, they managed to achieve great results while being in an traditional strucutre.
Is individualism and what accompanies it much more benefiting to the average person? Does evidence and reason bring much values beyond instinctual satisfactions for the average person?

I have issues with the whole immigration policy (technically I'm a immigrant. Kiwi's count don't they?) However my issue is both countries stance on welfare...whole other kettle of fish I suppose though. I do think that Oz does not have the resources or infrastructure to support limitless immigration.
Currently submerged under an avalanche of books and paper work. I may come back up for air from time to time.
Real life awaits and she is a demanding mistress.
