Do we really want to live in a world where people can't access toliets for free? I mean think about the alternative when people can't afford to pay.

Free toilets are just another road towards socialism.

    You have been warned.

Well, let the urine and feces flow in the streets as a testament to capitalism, I guess.

Why didn't free restrooms cause us to lose the cold war?

Extremely annoying. I think this goes in and out of fashion. Maybe we're seeing it again due to the economic times. I just won't visit those places. It is is sort of like the BP stations. This is a trivial thing, but they stopped serving hot tea, I'm sure to save money. I don't drink coffee. Simple solution. I buy gas elsewhere, even if I'm not getting anything to drink. I'm sure that little decision has cost them $1000 of my business over the last year. Maybe I'm the only one that cares but I take my money where I get the service I expect/want.

All I can tell you is this.

If I was in a really bad mood, and I felt like destroying a public bathroom with my bodily waste, I could think of a myriad of possibilities to get the job done.

Now, on that same day, if I were in a public bathroom that charged me a quarter?

    I'd turn this:

This has been around for a long time, I think, here and there. When we were kids, we were traveling across the country and my sister needed to use the restroom in a small town in west Texas. She had to pay a quarter to get into the restroom.

Notable thing was, that she also had to pay a quarter to get *out* (that's right... she was locked in until someone with another quarter went to rescue her). Apparently she was banging on the door shouting for help for a minute or two until our dad went to see if she was okay .

I don't have proof, but I saw this somewhere, in a rather dirty neighborhood in the city. (Were they worried about crime?)

My question: What could have motivated the restaurant to do this? What is it supposed to achieve or prevent? I don't see the rationale, except for a way to gather extra revenue for the store, but...any other reasons?
For that matter, why on earth was the women's room free?

It's sexist, but the reasoning probably is that men can pee outside, and women not only have to sit down to pee, but have other biological issues to deal with sometimes that men don't.

I've used a bathroom I was supposed to pay to get into before. Tokens for the restroom, in some coffee shop. But I knew a guy who worked there, and he just handed me a token.

Yeah, I was in Amsterdam and there was a guy sitting outside the restroom collecting quarters. I asked if he took Visa...he didn't think it was funny, but I did

I assume the womens' bathroom hadn't been consistently and completely trashed, but the mens' had.
