Default Do we live in an obscene culture?

I was reading a book review for a book on Amazon, it suggested that the media is effectively socialising kids into a obscene culture. I'm unsure about this one but it definitely does worry me because I work with a lot of young people who're engaging in really adult behaviour at a very young age and often using language and talking about sexual topics away in advance of some adults I know. Hopefully its not typical but you know.

Generally I'd have dismissed stuff like this as alarmist but I'm less able to day by day and I wonder if its a result of just getting older.

    4/10.

But still pile-reaming nonsense from Typology Central's Twaddle-meister general, in the field.

The field of utter nonsense, that is.

The other day I read something about how common (and casually regarded) infanticide used to be (and still is in some places), that's obscene culture.

Obscene: abdication of personal responsibility by repeating someone else's claim (by quotation).

This is called an argument from authority.

I think stoning people to death in the public square for having pre-marital sex is pretty obscene.

But a good day out, none-the-less.

    Edit: Unless you're being stoned.

Yeah, obscenity in any way that I could imagine it is something that existed in large quantites long ago. I don't think there's a particular increase in it these days.

There are concerning things about how children are socialized today that may be different from the past, but it's not a matter of being more or less obscence, unless, say, you consider consumerism obscene, in which case maybe we are living in a more obscene culture today.

What culture are we talking about?
I don't even think we're from the same country.
