I dont know guys, think about the audience, they'll love this, its stupid and funny but will stick in the memory for laughs and its got all the conservative hall marks like the "in name only" business and "sheeple" visuals.

I think it's probably ineffective because it's scattershot and amateurish in its conception and production. I get that they want to paint the opponent as a tax-and-spend guy, but the entire sheep motif just baffles me. It's too all over the place.

Except it's painting good Republicans as sheeple. I don't even think that was intentional, it was a stupid mistake.

I don't think it will win the hearts of any conservative voters by striking a funny bone.

    It's also way too long.

It is too long but I didnt see it as portraying good conservatives as sheep but the fiscal conservatives in name only as sheep.

Definitely not among the worst. Only the fact that it's too long keeps it from being one of the best. The demon sheep parts are hilarious, as well as interspersing footage of Tom Campbell with sheep chewing.

Oh yeah, and YLJ, stay away from America.

Umm... it was the wolf in sheep's clothing (aka demon-eyed man sheep thing a the end) that was the "fiscal conservative in name only." The advert also talks about how the the FCINO was the only Republican not to sign a "no taxes" pledge, etc.

It's pretty clear in the ad that sheepiness is good, and those who go against sheep nature (break rank) while pretending sheepitude are bad. So that makes the faithful fiscal conservative Republicans the sheep in the video, which is a pretty puzzling symbolic choice.

Seems metaphorically confused to me. For example, in the middle of showing sheep during the intro it says "a man like," which just draws attention to the fact that you are looking at sheep. Why not say "someone like" or use some other phrase that doesn't jar so directly with the metaphor being built? And if it's a "wolf in sheep's clothing" why is it clearly a man in sheep's clothing? The guy in sheep's clothing is only human figure in the whole metaphorical setup... so he's the only smart one, and he's preying on helpless fiscal conservatives?

Anyway, just doesn't hang together. Trippy, though.

Its a bit like the new labour, new danger ads in the UK which turned out to be so scary that the conservatives could even fully use them!

I think the greatest political campaign ad I ever saw was the 1979 Labour Isnt Working Ad with the dole cue, with propaganda like that I'd have been really surprised if the conservatives hadnt won, it could be read in so many different ways, about the administration, the party, the working population/unemployment, it could be unsuccessful or unoccupied etc.
