Chavista "Experts" Say U.S. Military Caused Haitian Earthquake - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

I cannot believe that there are still people who defend Chavez. It's hilarious and, yet, I am shaking with rage that these scumbags would exploit a tragedy in such a way.

Rage wouldn't describe my emotional response, more like indifference. Who cares what Chavez says? Does anyone take him seriously?
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

From what I read it is not Chavez who says it, but some random "expert". What has it to do with Chavez?

Not trying to defend Chavez here, just saying.

That may technically correct, but I doubt this expert could make a public statement without his approval. I could be wrong though, maybe Venezuela is more free than I was led to believe.

Well, that may be well possible that he has some influence on it, though I don't think Chavez will personally authorize every public statement.

I doubt he personally authorizes every public statement, but I think it's safe to assume that there is a "standard" that must be met.

The media channels that reported this nonsense are state-directed. Chavez has shut down almost all of the independent media in the country. They're basically government mouthpieces.

Too many people who should know better in North America and Europe. This guy just got a standing ovation from many in the international community at Copenhagen. He should be ridiculed at every turn.

Copenhagen...was that when they were trying to come up with that new climate treaty? The meeting that Nancy Pelosi turned into a publicly funded vacation?

If that's true, I'm not surprised that those idiots cheered him.
