Oh, Pshaw! If you like it, you should stand up for it.

I wonder if these votes break down in any meaningful way. I know that if this were an enneagram site, Type Ones would probably cast the most anti-smoking votes and Eights would cast the most pro-smoking votes.

This is where I part ways with the libertarians and nicotine addicts. Yes, regulate the stuff. Force recidivists to pick up, with tongs, the butts decorating every square yard of concrete in the entire industrialized world.

Edit: With chopsticks, to a quota, per sentence, rain or shine, of 17,000.

There is somewhat of a leaning towards Libertarian with the NTs, which probably has some influence (booyalab's comment is essentially that).

    Haha.
Yeah, but, you can't just give an indifferent, half-way answer to everything.

sorry- I made the poll and forgot to include my own opinion as an option- banning smoking in indoor public establishments with exception to bars. I'm a horrible poll maker!

Oh you so haven't met me
See online I'm far more likely to say what's in my head and so I appear to have more solid opinion.

Oh I was looking for the extremely long option
"You may or may not ban smoking but would definitely introduce some form of encouragement for people to begin to remove smokers from their establishments without being hardline and trying to force people to do this. Parallel to this you introduce some harsher guidelines over what is defined as a no smoking area without actually requiring more money to be spent, such as introducing intermediate areas in establishments where no one may smoke but isn't classed as non smoking because they are right next to the smokers."

I'm not sure it would fit on the option line

As of January 1st, an indoors smoking ban takes effect in Illinois.

This is bullshit in my opinion. It should be left to the establishment owner's discretion.

If you can't stand people smoking in a bar or restaurant, don't go in there! If you can't handle working in a smokey environment, don't work there! This is supposed to be a free country.

Statistically, I don't know exactly what's going to happen. The state of Illinois will lose millions of dollars a year from cigarette taxes, but this will also have an effect on many other things, like health care. I don't care about this crap.

It's your job to take care of yourself, what's next, mandatory goverment butt wipings once a month just to make sure you're doing a good enough job? Just as a matter of principle, I do not like this smoking ban. Freedom is priceless.

    Freedom has no inherent value.
All the value of freedom is equal to what you do with it.

I really, really don't like libertarianism.

Freedom to act ends where you start hurting others, and to me smoking in a building shared by others crosses that line.
