Default Credit Card Issuers Get Sneakier with Fees

credit-new-fees-escape-card-act-rules-surprise-consumers: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance

Just an FYI to pay close attention to your credit card statements.

Since Congress passed the Credit Card Act earlier in the year, banks and credit card issuers have gotten even more creative in f* cking the consumer out of millions.

I think the worst one is inactivity fee.

Sorry you aren't using your credit card enough, here is a fine.

That happened early 09' for a card with a major bank I'd had for nine years.
They also "serviced" three other accounts I had no balance on i.e. Department stores, etc.

So I called them all up and closed all of the accounts. And filed a nasty complaint with the Federal Reserve...the response I got back was it's legal, but in the interest of customer service we'll waive the fee.

Just got one card now, little ole' credit union. I won't borrow from banks anymore, and only charge something I can pay cash for. i.e. An online purchase so that my debit card account number doesn't get out there. Travel rentals, etc.
