I dont know if anyone else follows trends in marketing and sales quite the way that I do. It sounds boring and it probably isnt the most exciting topic ever but I do believe that some of the points made by psycho-analysts like Fromm about these trends being (at least potentially) pathological make sense.
So there's viral marketing, social marketing and the cross over between networking and marketing, everything is an opportunity to sell, sell, sell and conversely those people whose business it was to sell are trying to make it their business to provide social spaces now too.
What interests me about this is that there's pluses and minuses to both selling and socialising, I dont think its anal to suggest that's so and I'm not particularly suggesting that never the twain should meet or mix. On the other hand does anyone ever get pissed off when it feels like the ills of one are polluting the greatness of the other?
Whether its the Nth pop up or advert banner intruding on your favourite thread or the troll whose mistaken your review, feedback or purchases for their personal blog its bound to grate right?
I'm just interested because this got me riled recently, doesnt happen much but it does happen, about dumbshit feedback I was receiving on reviews on Amazon's website and posted about it in the reviewers/vine programme forum, reactions were interesting, consensus that purging any social or discussion aspect wasnt desirable but responses by turns supportive and nasty/narky.
