Default Everyones filming everyone else, everyones watching

I wonder, this was mentioned in another thread in a round about way, does it necessarily follow that the people concerned with privacy of the individual vs. the state will also be concerned with the privacy of the individual vs. others and how possible is it to preserve privacy in the face of ubiquitous access to the means to film and photo others?

There are lots of weirdos on flickr with pics they took of "attractive" women without the woman knowing. You might be interested in those photostreams!

There is also the individual civil option of an "invasion of privacy suit" in many jurisdictions (i.e. the landlord with the two way mirror.). I also read up on a new digital camera that takes digital pictures of what your cat is looking at every 15min for about $50US. The results are that housecats don't seem to nap as much as everyone thinks.

Yeah, I was just reading about the pet cams and thinking about 1984, I dont think that all surveillance is equal but at the same time its becoming just so commonplace its shocking and surprising all at once. Yet you still get it routine arguments about police cameras on the streets.
