So are samurai swords. Those are amazingly deadly. More so than a gun if you can use one.
Samurai swords are fascinating. Is that disgusting?
First up, the argument that a samurai sword is more deadly than a gun is a bit silly. Even in the right hands. No amount of skill is going to trump the range disadvantage.
But that aside, context is important. Contrary to the ENFP stereotype, I'm a very pragmatically minded person, and I consider the chances of getting hurt or injured by a samurai sword as incredibly small in comparison to the chances of getting hurt or injured by a gun.
This important fact makes it easier to indulge in the luxury of being fascinated by the beauty and engineering of a samurai sword than would be the case if I was somehow transported into thirteenth century feudal Japan. If I did find myself in thirteenth century feudal Japan, there's a chance my feelings about samurai swords might be more similar to my feeling about guns.
