I know it's died down a bit over the years, but a mention of Northern Ireland is in order too.

That one slipped by me. It doesn't make much different to me, though. That quote misses all kinds of important factors, both concerning the social circumstance, and the nature of the weapons in question.

You might be interested to know that I don't support gun control, by the way.

You just like to argue in favor of it just for shits and giggles?

Haven't read this thread just checking out these last couple posts

Yup total INTP trait. Often those who disagree with what they are debating come of with the best reason/logic. Usually its better if the matter doesn't directly conflict with our core values.

I thought this was more ENTP behavior?

But seriel killers are much more rare than Hollywood would have you believe.

Completely sane people shoot each other with guns every day.

Well, again, I've passed out of the thread often enough that I may have missed something, but from what I've actually seen, no one has covered the main reason I don't rally for gun control. Even if someone has covered it, it hasn't been the focus of the discussion. Instead, I've seen a lot of stupid arguments against gun control. I don't care if it roughly defends the "side" I'm on, as much as I care that they are stupid arguments. In fact, I would prefer to have no one on my side at all than have my side supported by weak foundations.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with gun ownership and I couldn't care less about the second amendment. Still, I don't vote for gun control.

And yes, while this isn't technically one of those cases, I do also sometimes argue for something I don't believe at all. It's not for amusement. It's an enlightening practice.

Real quick because I don't wanna derail this tread.

From my observations I notice ENTPs are better able at having two conflicting beliefs. INTPs on the other hand are able to remove themselves more and argue both sides of the coin with what they believe persuasive argument without subscribing to that argument personally.

You don't need a gun to attack someone:

Woman held after attack on man with raw steak | floridatoday.com | FLORIDA TODAY

A 53-year-old Dunnellon woman has been arrested after allegedly hitting a man in the head with a raw steak.
According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, the man told deputies that Elsie Egan repeatedly hit him with the uncooked meat,
and slapped his face after he refused a piece of sliced bread.

The man said he wanted a bread roll.

Nobody has been denying that you can attack someone without a gun. That's not the point. The point was already clearly made, and I should have to say it here.
