The point being though, you can have a gun but it be illegal to take it anywhere it could cause public endangerment. Explosives are a might more problematic... and easier to get hold of oddly enough.

Oh come on... that one's obviously BS.

Guns vs a tank? No way.

The only thing you could resist would be a lightly armed militia... which by the way probably comprises of gun toting hicks.

And why was he carrying a gun? I guess there would have been horrendous casualties if he was throwing assorted cutlery and chairs about the place.

This above remark is a red herring to the topic regardless. People in the military will have access to firearms and yes people flip out and go crazy sometimes.

As for the whole crime going down thing. I'm not sure about that, but gun control sure as hell isn't malicious to safety!

At the very least have the decency to quote entire sentences. Now it lacks the intended context. Your argument is void if you take into consideration that the sentence could also imply that Hitler could not be trusted with deadly force.

And apart from that, your argument is highly speculative and based on your own perception of common sense, not on verifiable data. No one knows what would've happened if Hitler hadn't disarmed the Jewish population, or if the colonists weren't allowed to have guns.

If your serious about making an argument against gun restrictions I suggest you come up with some hard data. And then reread my previous post and realize that I did not say that guns should be illegal, just restricted to make sure that they can't be abused.

If someone wants to get a gun, they WILL get a gun. All they have to do is go out on the street and find an illegal firearms dealer. It's not hard at all. The law is irrelevant to criminals! Restricting firearm ownership ONLY hinders law abiding citizens from protecting themselves and others from the lawless.

Now were you to come over to the UK, find a dealer and purchase a firearm... then we could be talking proof.

As already said above by many people, gun politics is not even an issue in Britain because the vast majority of inhabitants support the existing circumstances of arguably having the strongest gun laws in the world; hence, this thread is a bit pointless.

If most British people had their way, the ban on firearms would be extended to air rifles and air pistols. It is ironic because the modern arms trade was invented by a Briton called William Armstrong to compete with a German by the name of Alfred krupp. Not only that but arguably the most notorious arms dealer ever,Basil Zaharoff, made his empire in Britain selling Hiram Maxim's invention of the automatic machine gun. Hiram Maxim who of course became a British citizen and received his knighthood for the invention which America rejected (America wrongly thought it would lead to a shortage of bullets).

    100% Agreed!

I might add it's a telltale sign to see so many Americans rush into that kind of thread, when it was firstly "aimed" for British citizens only.

    Something weird is going on.
