Actually, the United States tends not to use the term "democratic republic," because, historically, that was used by communist and/or post-colonial countries. The United States is a federal constitutional republic that holds democratic elections.

It's enough of a difference to warrant pointing out. East Germany was the "German Democratic Republic." I wouldn't want to lump my country in with them.

Well since democracy is kind of like communism in its idealism, I prefer it my way.

The most accurate estimates now put the death toll of European Jews at about 5.5-5.9 million, and the overall death toll of Nazi genocide at @12 million.

I live in NC and I am from Georgia. I think I posted this comment in the wrong thread. I was referring to these comments:

Spamtar said "I think we have a great country and our propoganda only lowers it."
and Victor said "It's bad enough that the Americans believe their own propaganda but they expect us to believe it too."

Well there you go, it's not just an American thing. Just like the German Karl von Clausewitz noted that war is just politics by other means.

I think American laws regarding guns are fine really, the US population has had a culture of guns and thus generally knows how to responsibly use them (of course there are exceptions) but I don't support relaxing Gun Control laws in countries which do not have that culture.
