    Hilarious thread

I'd like to say that if I ever move to the states, it'll be to the south. Besides the whole slave-owner shebang, I always thought the confederates were a hell of a lot cooler than their yankee counterparts...
Robert Edward Lee... Stonewall Jackson... Longstreet... Braxton Bragg... Pickett...

I've actually wept with stolen tears of pride when watching Pickett's charge upon the yankee center at Gettysburg.
Suffice to say, I don't do that very often.

And southern food... Nothing quite like it.
Great place. Great culture. Rich history.

Mightier than the tread of marching armies is the power of an idea whose time has come

EDIT: As a matter of fact, let me edit it to dispel any more confusion .

If you've ever seen the movie Forrest Gump, you know why I love the South.

    Pickett's charge was foolish.
You admired men bravely marching to their death?

What I love about the South is the Rebel yell, the never say die "pry it from my cold dead fingers" attitude in the face of adversity.

Is that a promise that you'll never visit?

Cause we have enough immigration as it is............can of worms, anyone?

    Agreed.

Are you talking about the movie?

Lee: General Pickett, where is your division?
    Pickett: General.....I have no division
Brings me to tears every time.

    Cornbread, good. Grits, bad.

The South. Hmmm... it's okay, I guess. Florida is a fun vacation spot. I've lived both in the North and South, and I think I much prefer the North. But let me not rain on this parade...

    The key word is bravely.

Its no different than any self sacrificing massacre such as this. The Alamo, Gallipoli, The Charge of the Light Brigade, Battle of Thermopolyae, Battle of the Little Bighorn.....etc

Logically foolish. A huge tactical error, yes.

    Still heroic and sacrificing.

I salute those men who were sent on that ill-fated charge.

You acknowledge the mistakes. You honor the men who died because of them.....
