I thought this thread was a joke from the title.

There is a lot of fear mongering from both sides. Education? Health care? Environment? Overpopulation?

I bet the argument here would be 'but those are real fearz!!!111'

Watch it all the way through.

It's the first handling of the afterlife that didn't set off my logic detector.

Which is of course why we spent more time discussing Robin Williams movies than the actual subject.

Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.

And Bill Murray was great in Garfield.

The bits I've seen aren't bad at all. I'm too much a believer in a static universe to really agree with the whole suicide angle, however.

Regardless, I like how the film ties the after life to sentience.

The only people that get to heaven are the ones who can first forgive themselves.

EDIT: "we believe we exist, therefore we do"

Dang, thought you might be a Jay and Silent Bob guy.

My interpretation of the concept of nirvana is not that there is some sort of afterlife, but achieving awakening in this lifetime is sufficient as to prepare yourself and accept your own death. That the stillness of nonexistence will no longer be feared but welcome, as your role in the universe has been fulfilled.

Ahhh, I like to incorporate the best aspects of the religions we have into one.

Religion makes more sense that way (for me at least).

Combining the eastern idea of living for others and thinking of yourself as nothing, with the western idea of an afterlife, was very powerful for me.

That's good to hear you've found a path. I wonder if I'm doomed to search forever.

Its the search that purifies us.

I literally struggle (as in I don't know if I believe anymore) with my faith DAILY.

My faith has only become more resolute b/c of this.
