As with any documentary, there is some bias. And this one does not paint Neo-cons in a very favorable light.

I'm less concerned with what this has to say about Republicans, and more concerned about what this has to say about government generally.

Basically, both sides of the aisle use fear. (I should have found a documentary, that pokes at the liberal tendency to over blow gun deaths)

Its not that they use fear. It's that we all know they do it, and revel in our ignorance.

My own opinion aside, have you read any of the critical reviews, such as that by Peter Bergen? As I recall, several of the factual elements of the documentary are suspect, and the analysis even more so.
The "Al Qaeda is a myth" thing I thought was pretty bogus. I dislike neocons as much as the next person, but it's a little too conspiracy-ish.

There is a "Paranoid Style" on the both wings in politics, and in the center, as well.

EDIT: Just using the term here. Hofstadter was actually a complete tool.

No one is actually saying fear or paranoia only exists on one side of the spectrum. The study just measured trends.

The problem with our Democracy (if you could still call it that [I find democratic republic to be much more apt]), is that the people bitch about gov't and politics, and never realize that the solution is in their hands.

This is what representation and democracy mean. It's not the politicians fault, they are just playing the game that the media and the public FORCE them to play.

They have no incentive to change their ways unless their boss tells them. Guess who is the boss of all politicians?

    YOU.

People are dying for their right to speak out against the injustices in their governments.

Americans can't even get off the couch for it.

I guess I need to take into account that not all people feel as strongly about this as I do.

It is my belief that failures in politics and governance (in democracies and republics) is more reflective of ill's within the populace, than ills within the government.

We don't need to go that far, just make it so that those making the decisions within the ruling class of the media get fired when they pull the wool over our eyes to further personal gains.

Shit I think we have laws that are SUPPOSED to do that now.

All we really need to do is have the BALLS to oppose entrenched monied political interests within this nation.
