I think for the sake of argument we should just stick with what is right now and not so much what was and what will be.
Everything I have talked is what is now. But in order to fully understand what is now, one must also understand what was. It was you who brought up what will be, in regards to Oktoberfest not being German in a few hundred years.

He was Briton, which means he was Celtic. So he was an ethnic cousin to the Irish. The English as we know them largely today were the Anglo-Saxons who arrived several centuries later and drove the Britons to what is now Wales and Brittany.
