There is not one single utterance of hatred towards them, and several passages preaching tollerance towards them.

The mistake that people make, is confusing 'the sin' with 'the sinner'.

The bible *DOES* go pretty nasty on the whole sodomy and gay *SEX* thing. It has a severe hatred for any form of sex which is pure pleasure or love, and doesn't involve the capacity of creating life. As gay sex physically can't result in the creation of a baby, *THAT* is why it's considered a sin. Because it's done purely for love, not for procreation, and the bible's against any form of sex that is not done for procreation as it's primary goal.

People just 'assume' that gays have had gay sex. If yeu are gay, and never have sex with yeur partner, then yeu are in fact *NOT* a sinner according to the bible. There is nothing wrong with same sex couplings and no harm should come to them.

The only thing is that yeu also can't get married because marriage is also of the former issue: it's a liscence for procreation, not a symbol of love. As gays are not allowed to procreate due to the lack of capacity to create children, they therefore aren't allowed to procreate, and therefore, are also not allowed to be given a liscence to do so that they can't use. Hence, gays can't marry because they can't give birth to children without going outside their union.

Short form of this, is that people are making wild assumptions that gays are evil and god hates them. This's never been said, and the contrary HAS been stated repeatedly. He just doesn't like sex for love. It has to be a baby making machine. If gays don't have sex, then god's perfectly fine with them.

Some people just don't understand the message, and haven't realized that there's a difference between 'the sin' and 'the sinner'. If they didn't sin, they're not a sinner. If they did, yeu should still love the sinner but hate the sin.

    Unfortunately, try using reason or facts with these people >.>;;
I am pleased you believe this because it is an improvement on the Bronze Age beliefs of the Torah, the Bible and the Koran.

However your belief is a latter gloss on two of these holy books.

But even your gloss is unacceptable in a democratic society of free individuals.

In the Bible there is no distinction between the person and the act.

The distinction between the person and the act was made by the Scholastics about a thousand years after the Bible was written.

If you are referring to the U.S., you are horribly mistaken. The U.S. is a oligopoly and a polyarchy that consists of individuals. The term "freedom" is highly open to interpretation, and thus has no objective meaning.

Come on, let's not take this thread to a debate about who's more tight wit' God. Focus on the thread topic.

I don't think counter-protesting is going to effectively change the WBC's minds, but it might be kinda fun. Here are some suggestions:

    1) Gather enough people to circle around the protesters, silently, not reacting at all to their shouting, just staring, staring into their souls, and when the WBC starts having wtf looks, start closing in on them, not trapping them, but just making them disperse and get creeped out.

    2) Make a cutout/effigy of Fred Phelps getting analed by Hitler.

    3) Get large speakers or a few megaphones set up to loudly play various songs, like "From A Distance", "We Are the World", or "Let's Get Retarded". The last one works great as everyone can dance retardedly around the protesters.

    +1 to Victor.
Actually the credit for advancing, "The no true Scotsman fallacy", goes to philosopher Antony Flew in his 1975 book "Thinking About Thinking: Do I sincerely want to be right?".

Being hateful towards them will do the trick, it's been so effective in the past.

I can't speak for the USA but here freedom means parliamentary democracy.

And at a deeper level here freedom means the limitation of power.

And it is important to remember that parliamentary democracy has succeeded in limiting power over slaves, women and children. And we are now engaged in limiting power over homosexuals.

And we have had some success. At least two Ministers of the Crown are openly gay and lesbian. Almost all legislative discrimination against gays and lesbians has been removed. The registration of Civil Unions is available and we are working towards a Marriage that includes gays and lesbians.

This is one of the few times I agreed with Hannity. Frankly, I don't know why the folks up at Fox would broadcast this, because it makes Christianity look repulsive.
look deep in her eyes, she has no soul.

they probably broadcasted it to gain a favor for the troops or something.

Her smile sends shivers up my spine. Lol. There's something terribly off about her. Almost on a supernatural level.
