It's all about contrast, under Bush's administration admiration for the US was so low it wasn't even on one scale with the entire rest of the world. Now that that 'idiot' is replaced with a man of exceptional charisma and, yes it can be said, a fair amount of intelligence people are automatically rating the nation a lot higher.

Jup, no international media even mentioned the healthcare reforms in Holland a couple of years back, but we changed an already working system. Now that it happens in the country with one of the poorest healthcare of all developed countries, and by a charismatic leader who aims to make a big issue out of it, it (and therefore he) suddenly is brilliant and revolutionary, eventhough a lot of his plans are copied directly from our model.

Calling the US health care system the "poorest health care of all developed countries" is not accurate. Exclusive would be a better description. If you have the money, you can get the best care on the planet.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

If being admired means we have to give up personal liberty and accept socialism then I say fuck the rest of the world, hate us please.

The truth is that you do not have a social democratic party. Rather you have two parties of business and call that freedom. But in fact you have no freedom to choose.

The business of America is business.

This is of course your business. But fortunately we have a party of business as well as a social democratic party. And guess what - we call that freedom.

Most people are quite happy that Bush & Co. are gone but I don't think that they find Obama that much interesting to be honest with you. (at least I don't)

What bullshit...Seriously. Bush is in there - US is the worst country; Obama is in office - US is the best country. And other countries say Americans are superficial???

President Bush was good to us. He gave us a coveted free trade agreement and he gave us access to the very highest levels of American intelligence. And this is invaluable to us.

And President Obama has given us a valuable present of membership of the G 20.

And we never forget the American bases in our North West at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and in out North East at Guam in the Pacific, protecting us from attack from the North. And interestingly the only way we can be attacked is from the North.

So we are happy with America under President Bush and President Obama.

They say countries don't have permanent friends, only permanent interests. Fortunately the interests of our two countries don't merely coincide, they dovetail.

I have noticed this trend in Europe. Australia may be different.
