Oh thank God I'm none of those... it sure would be easy to be accused if I were though.

Hell yeah, I'm for it. In fact, I don't think I'm allowed to say on this forum what *I* would do to a guy if he had raped my kid.

Put a giant fence around Alabama and put all of the rapists, pedophiles and murderers in. give them axes and machetes. The first ten that die get a second chance. everyone wins.

Forcible castration is cruel and unusual no matter who the victim is.

Am I right in saying some folk on this thread would be pro death penalty but anti castration... I find that a wee bit weird...

I don't think peads can be rehabilitated, I'd be concerned about miscarraged of justice. As an intervention it would work on so far as committing a penetravie act, but it wont stop them from trading kids, watch or doing other stuff... so it may be an neive intervention....

HOWEVER - the penalty may prevent men taking the risk of acting on their thoughts in the first palce....

I'm not totally anti but I'd want to see how this impacts the population

    I'm for it.

The Great State of California was the first to use chemical castration for child molesters and there are 8 other states in the U.S. who also use it, Louisiana being the most recently added to the list, I believe.

With chemical castration what they get is shots of Depo Provera which is the common birth control hormone given to women to prevent pregnancy.

Mostly because of punishments like this one, I think that in year 2109 they are horrified how barbaric we were back in 2009.

I would say that you were not right. I don't think that lethal injection would qualify as "cruel and unusual punishment," but castration (chemical or otherwise) would in my book. Executing a triple murderer is not the same as torturing/mutilating him or her. Personally, I think that there are offenses so heinous that they would merit death in the abstract sense, but I don't really trust the government enough that they will get it right in 100% of the cases. I am certain that innocent people have been executed, and that horrifies me.

With chemical castration, once the Depo Provera shots cease, the condition of being "castrated" ceases as well. In short, it's reversible. It's no different than when the millions of women take depo every month to temporarily halt their normal natural chemical/hormonal reproductive processes, but no one seems to have a problem with that.
