    Default Ted Kennedy - R.I.P.

Passed away about an hour ago. Lost his battle with brain cancer. I didn't like the guy at all, but that is sad.

"All authority of any kind, especially in the field of thought and understanding, is destructive and evil. Leaders destroy the followers and the followers destroy the leaders. You have to be your own teacher and your own disciple. You have to question everything that man has accepted as valuable, as necessary."

It's too bad he never payed the price for this: Chappaquiddick incident - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I would extend my condolences to his surviving family members.

EDIT: Well, I will note that his odds of being re-elected are now no better than 50-50, though happily he is still eligible to vote in the state of Massachussetts.

He paid the comedy price, and he is still paying. Norm Macdonald has in particular has been rough.

I will miss him. He was one of only a few senators to vote no to the 2002 legislation that gave the president way too much power to start a pre-emptive war against Iraq, based on non-existent weapons of mass destruction. The Democrats who voted in favor of the legislation started making (lame) excuses for their poor choice in 2002 to relinquish their power to the president when the truth about the "weapons of mass destruction" appeared in the mass media. Fortunately, the war powers act has expired and was not renewed.

The only people paying the comedy price are the people that have to listen to Norm Macdonald.

I've said it before, I will say it again: don't ever try to be funny. Whenever you post something with the little laughing smiley, it's a really unfunny "witticism" GUARANTEED. And Norm had the funniest Chappaquiddick joke I've ever heard.

I loved Norm's Weekend Update delivery, and his Bob Saget roast.
