Dead? Slim to nil chance of that. What I want to know, is when they will be mostly policy driven. The fear mongering and bible thumping is quite embarrassing. Hardly enough to kill the party though.

Historically, it takes them a while to learn. The two major political parties really need to be beat over the head to learn lessons.

Didn't Jello Biafra run as VP last year? I wouldn't mind that...

I like Dead Kennedys, but Jello Biafra is pretty silly. I remember hearing him spout off some of his political platforms on Politically Incorrect maybe ten years ago and LOL'ing.

I heard that one year he competed for a third-party nomination with that infamous cop-killer as a running-mate.

That was brutally unfunny. The speech impediment didn't help, either.

The Republican party will continue to be a joke as long as they're heavily influenced by religion and have spokesmen like Rush Limbaugh. If they can somehow manage to shed those liabilities, they'll have a chance to regain power (only to fuck it up again, as both parties always do).
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."
