I'd be pretty damned interested to see what happens, I wouldn't pay money to see it, and I probably wouldn't go more than once. It's really the experience that counts, I think I feel that having first hand knowledge of a such an event could be advantageous somehow . I wouldn't really care if it was a lethal injection, it's the electrocution or the guns that I'm interested in. I also want to know how it would affect me... it just really gnaws at my curiosity.

No for an unknown individual. No again for somebody I knew.

What is the point of watching?
So their death can be imprinted onto your mind?

To show "support" for the executed individual?
    Who's the support given to?
Not for the poor condemn. They'll be dead.
The dead has no need for support.
If not for them, then it's for show.
    I'd rather not show.

As to a hated criminal, I wouldn't watch either.
Death does not correct a mistake, unless it's to prevent more mistakes.
If that's the case, dead is dead.
    Knowledge suffice, memory is redundant.

No. I oppose the death penalty in all cases and would never attend a public execution.

If someone were being killed for crimes committed against my loved ones, I would rather pull the trigger myself than go watch someone else do it.*

*as I said, I am officially opposed to the death penalty, but all bets would be off if the crime were personal somehow, my emotions and my wish for retribution/revenge would most likely take over. Not saying this is right, or how it should be, but I think that's what would happen.

I don't see a reason why I should attend one.
    Not really.

OK, so why do people think people attended them in the past?
Relationships have normal ebbs and flows. They do not automatically get better and better when the participants learn more and more about each other. Instead, the participants have to work through the tensions of the relationship (the dialectic) while they learn and group themselves and a parties in a relationships. At times the relationships is very open and sharing. Other time, one or both parties to the relationship need their space, or have other concerns, and the relationship is less open. The theory posits that these cycles occur throughout the life of the relationship as the persons try to balance their needs for privacy and open relationship.

The same reason why people made Neda Sultan an icon. Ultimately there's a feeling of justice that's desired. Those people did not feel sorry for the death of a person as they did for the suppression of an ideology. It's unthinking, emotionally significant, intense. Seeing the execution, in a way, sates this bloodthirst (but does so quite inadequately: still, they take what they get).
    Not really.
