    Default European Parliament election -2009-

European Parliament election, 2009 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So my dear european friends, what did you vote, for whom and why?

Did "European issues" or national ones affect your vote and how?

    ---

Bonus question for non-europeans: what would you have voted, and in which country, should you have belonged to our continent?

    ---

Last note: Internet usually is the last refuge and playground of extremists and demagogues but please, could we try to be serious, just once?

The European Free Alliance seems to align closely with my views. Subsidiarity-Regionalism is a major cornerstone to my politcal views.

I voted "blank" for the first time in my life. Didn't do much homework in terms of what each party offered, and what I did read about didn't convince me.

European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party...

... though I don't really expect much from the EP.

It's a pretty sad case in my country, since you have to counter extremists with your vote - except from that fact, there are no advantages whatsoever in the program of the AFD (Alliance of Free Democrats). The lesser evil triumphs.

    Estimates for Germany are currently:

    CDU: 38% (Center-right conservative)
    SPD: 21% ("Social Democrats")
    Greens: 12%
FDP:11% (Liberal Democrats, laissez faire capitalists)
    Left Party 8% ("Socialist")
Others: 10.5% (None of them will get any seats)

    Absent: 57%

I voted for one of the "Others"

EDIT: oops, didn't see the other thread.

My opinion on the EU (as currently constituted) has already been expressed on the "What will happen to EUrope?" thread; If I was a European, I would vote for a centrist or center-right Eurosceptic party for the reasons I posited there. Otherwise, my vote would go towards either the EPP or the Liberals (I forget the acronym).
