    I see a world dictatorship...

And no form of government is really good because no matter how good the system is humanity corrupts it.

Only a government that's built around the assumption of man's imperfect nature can truely provide freedom. That's the paradox of freedom.

The ideal form of political government is no government whatsoever. Since that is not workable, mankind has tried many different forms throughout history. Liberal democracy/constitutional republicanism has been the most successful.

    This is profoundly true.

And as that great Roman Catholic, Lord Acton, said, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

And as Government is simply about the disposition of power, we have found a way of governing ourselves in a civilized way by limiting power.

And the way we limit power is by the Separation of Powers and it is called liberal democracy.

But liberal democracy is a great triumph because it is counter-intuitive.

As all politicians intuitively wish to increase their power, while liberal democracy systematically limits their power.

And of course liberal democracy limits their power over us.

You know Victor, if you stopped here, you'd have a fairly decent post. But no. *sigh*

You know, Peguy, that I rely upon you to read every word I write.

And you know I rely on you to keep me decent.

And if you will keep up the good work, common decency may well be within my grasp.

There may be some flaws to this argument, but I still think it's worth reminding people, that some argue that if this whole thing were so siomple and obvious, there would have stopped being confusion and conflict over it a long time ago.
