As I read it, it would mean we have a common ancestor... this isn't news, in that this is evidence for an existing theory.

This sounds too fetched and extravagent for me to believe it. Too many sensational stories these days.

I was told that according to anthropologists, there is NO missing link.

That thing looked like a rat.

I'll give you missing link. Send some salt and a fork my way. That rat will accidentally look pretty damn tasty.

Okay, now I know you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

    You're dismissed for your stupidity.

    Well, that's your right.

But this would mean you don't understand the chaotic nature of the universe. And hence, thermodynamics. And hence, quantum physics. And hence, genetics. And hence, evolutionary theory. And hence, modern science as a whole.

Our universe is made with lot of randomness. Once you understand that, "Creation" appears quite absurd and contradictory with empirical proofs.

    And so on.

And by the way, according to phylogenetics and fossils, our line diverged from cats some 120 million years ago, while here we're talking of "only" 47 million years.. So when you say "cousin" to your kitty, well, that's a very, very far away one. Furthermore, most Felidae don't have a very efficient neocortex, they are amongst the most stupid mammals (1).
It seems we're slightly closer to rats and bats.

    (1) I like cats, but frankly, they're not very bright.

Yes, the universe is far more interesting and mysterious than a creation myth that predates even the illiterate Bronze Age.

And the universe is far more interesting than a creation myth that was written down when wheelbarrows were the cutting edge technology.

And how beyond even wonder that our DNA relates us to each and every animal and living thing that has ever existed over four thousand, thousand, thousand years.

And how our DNA will tell us precisely what relationship we have with any living thing.

Indeed your DNA will tell you how you are related to Mole, the Water Rat, Toad and Badger, and even to me.

Yes, your DNA is a very close match to mine, as mine is to yours.
