The term 'conspiracy theorist' is always used in the pejorative, and the negative connotations aren't fully undeserved. Nuts who are conspiracy theorists were nuts long before they became interested in these theories. So the paranoids ruin the concept for the sane believers. These theories don't have conclusive evidence, hence them being theories, so there needs to be some degree of a leap of faith to believe in one, and nuts have no problem with that.

Study legitmate History. It's full of conspriacies. So it comes down to what's nutjob and what is plausible. The nutjob is easy to debunk, but only time and proper historical perspective can sort out the plausible for sure. We really can't know all the things the historians who investigate and study us will know.
The ur-conspiracy theory is anti-semitism. And it is quite right to shut down anti-semitism and shame people.

And this is just what your country and mine have done at the Durban II conference which was devoted to the conspiracy theory of anti-semitism.

Unfortunately anti-semitism is on the march with other conspiracy theories.

And they all appeal to paranoia.

And paranoia is psychological preparation to attack.

    So forewarned is forearmed.

Not everything labeled currently labeled "conspriacy theory" is about the grand unification theory of the hidden hand. Sometimes it's just people saying they want more investigation, more information, that questions remain.

People who merely ask questions are labeled "conspriacy theorists" when they are just asking questions and have no theory to explain these questions away at all, they are just saying they are not satisfied with the answers or lack of answers given so far.

This is what I object to.

I don't believe in any Conspiracy Theories, hence the term 'Theory'. I thrive off of the possibilities of them being true, research them, and think believe the theory could be true, or not..but I don't believe in any.

I believe 9/11 may have been an inside job by the Government, but it go either way.

Pearl Harbor is high up on my list of speculation: was it the work of the government too?

I do think we landed on the moon, even though it's an argued subject.

I think the government lies to us a lot, but my opinion isn't strong.

I believe Global warming may be stretched.
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

Try, center-leftism. It doesn't sound as scary, but that's basically what it is.

Well, two totalitarianisms, Nazism and Communism have been defeated and discredited. And that leaves only one totalitarianism standing, Islamism.

And it is true that the Hard Left, the Marxist Left, do support Islamism.

And interestingly both the Islamists and the Marxist Left are both virulently anti-semitic.

And while one is theist and the other is atheist, they both share the same conspiracy theory.

    And they are both paranoid.

And, as I say, paranoia is psychological preparation to attack.

It's a fact the government lies plenty, the sinking of the Lusitania, we provoked the Japanese then turned a blind eye to allow Pearl Harbor, The Gulf of Tonkin, Iran Contra; little to no speculation required.

I'm rather intrigued by conspiracy theories.
Currently submerged under an avalanche of books and paper work. I may come back up for air from time to time.
Real life awaits and she is a demanding mistress.

I actually really hate conspiracy theories when people expect me to take them seriously. I like them when they're meant as a revealing joke (all cats are secretly graphic designers, all socks turn into pennies).

What do you do when you can't prove or disprove based on theory?
