That's because we are the most lucrative trading partner for Venezuela; it has nothing to do with his ideology.

Racial stereotypes play a role in how public figures are perceived?

You would figure that if his ideology is socialist and anti-American that it might show up in his political policies. Maybe it wouldn't support America or even have a mixed market economy.

If he is just these things in speech, it's not as important of an issue.

This piece is extremely sensational, I'm disappointed with CNN, they seem to be diving far into such stories/opinions as of late.

They definitely do less entertainment pieces (all news agencies are expected to do some) than MSNBC and Fox News.

I actually disagree, politically slanted news just goes after different pieces and or views things in a different light.

I've seen CNN go on for several days on Obama's dog, the first family's fashion genious, etc.

For even-handed news, CNN is probably your best bet. MSNBC is obviously liberal, and Fox News, obviously stupid.

Just because MSNBC is liberal and Fox has an ounce of conservative pieces doesn't make their stories obsolete. I follow news from all three; along with other sources (if you haven't noticed Reuters is my favorite).

Within American news pieces, Fox has more up to date international news, while MSNBC focuses more internally. CNN (one of my old favorites) covered a little bit of both, but their news has been deteriorating for several years now, I still follow them though.

Only with people that don't matter, imo. Some people are uncomfortable when people in general don't fit into nice neat boxes. Of course there are going to be people uncomfortable with it. Just like there are people that are uncomfortable with the way I dress. It's not so much to do with her race as it has to do with people relying on stereotypes to validate themselves. When the stereotype doesn't fit perfectly, their validation goes out the window as well.

Instead of trying to look for a smarter way to think and react to things around them, they blame the 'oddball'.

To answer binary number's question, I doubt that very many people obsessing over Michelle Obama's fashion sense would prefer that she was a loud, fat woman.

The only people that want her to be that way are people that want an excuse to hate.

This is what really crawls under my skin as well. Admittably, they've talked about both of their styles entirely too much man and woman, but if we have nothing more interesting to say about Michelle than she does the same thing as everyone else in the morning "What should I wear, what will look good on me?" then we need to start talking about something else.
