To answer binary number's question, I doubt that very many people obsessing over Michelle Obama's fashion sense would prefer that she was a loud, fat woman. And, except for her anti-American streak, exactly what is it about Michelle Obama that's supposed to be so different from the (white) middle-class norm, anyways?
What was her anti-American streak about?

Like you don't know what I'm talking about.

To me, being capable of expressing the sentiment that one is only proud of the United States "for the first time" in their "adult life" and comfortably attending Reverend Wright's church for twenty years is a strong indicator of mild anti-Americanism (i've seen-and have been friends with-far worse, but I never figured to have a First Lady with such attitudes).

Well a lack of pride doesn't make you anti anything, neither does being friends with a popular community figure with radical views really.

The term 'anti-American' seems to be misused a lot.

Being friends with radicals is not the issue, granting legitimacy to, and signifying agreement with, those views by patronizing a specific church is. And Michelle Obama does not lack capacity for pride in this or any other country (she herself said that she had become proud of the United States), she just didn't think it desrved her pride until now. Do I think she's a closet Hugo Chavez? Not really. Do I think she does does not appreciate the United States and cherish its defining characteristics to a degree that I think is appropriate in a First Lady? Yes.

To each his own, I guess, but I strongly disagree. She is pretty beat. At the same age, Nancy Reagan, Hillary, and Laura Bush were all far more attractive.
