So what would the "right" thing be? Nobody in the political system is going to have the light turned on in their heads until a mass of people put some fear into them and light a fire under their asses. Trust me on that. They assume that people don't know anything and don't give a damn, hence why they go on doing whatever they please despite how much a few may yell and scream, and despite how far away their actions may be from the platform they were elected on.

I wonder if they plan on writing up a referendum, or some other document that would require signatures.

Or if the protest is suppose to just gather attention and backing.

As long as it doesn't become similar to one of the illegal immigration protests or prop 8 protests, (violence, road blocks, etc).

Then it is alright in my book.

The kinda of people who protest on values or principles are quite a bit different than that lot...

There are currently several documents and legislative directives being formed by the people involved with these protests. I believe one of them is a specific list of demands on what the government needs to do, or something like that.

Do you understand that the politicians watching on television have no idea of how many of their own constituents are in agreement or disagreement of anything they do? A bunch of people showing up on a lawn is nice, but that didn't stop us from going to war in Iraq. Or Vietnam.

I'm not knocking this, if you feel it's something you need to do. It's good that you even care. I just sincerely hope that every single person continues to care and to follow up. And to hold the people you elected accountable for their actions, since they speak and vote on your behalf. Start locally, where you can have more of a direct impact. Write letters, make phone calls, be a pest. Be heard. Or better yet, run for office or back someone for office that you know personally - get in the game.

You say "you" as if you yourself don't live in the country?

    Reread my first post.

I'm not arguing with you. I hope you have a great time at your protest and I hope that you guys make a difference. I sincerely mean that. Good luck!

I get tired of these arguments that get shot back and forth by both sides like perpetual endlessly reflecting mirrors oh hypocrisy. There are a lot of more conservative talk show hosts involved, but talk show hosts are regular people who happen to have a voice, and their voice resonates with most people like them, which is why the protests are growing so much.

And again, the protests aren't just about taxes, except in California where our taxes have gone up like you wouldn't believe in the past month and in the past decade. It's about the desire to reign in government spending and the corrupt politics that rules Washington and even state governments. People are just fed up with the condition of the system.

I don't particularly care what perspective you take, but if you have the slightest desire for accurate depictions of what is going on with this issue, I would avoid some media outlets like the plague.

I don't know man, but Freedom Works is a lobby, and it is clear they are playing a big part in these tea parties.

Evidence that it is a lobby:
Evidence that they are a big organizer:

Edit: Also, calling Radio and TV personalities "regular people" is absurd to me. They aren't "regular" for the very reason they have a voice--a voice paid for by media corporations and their sponsors.

If I had heard about the tea-parties from my neighbor instead of on Fox and Friends, I would be more inclined to believe it was "grass-roots."

Edit 2: Not that I disagree with the protestors. I just don't think it comes anywhere close to "grass-roots."
