The US and UK have a welfare state. China is moving towards getting one. And the rest of the major world players are in Europe, which has welfare states.

At the bottom of Wiki articles, they have a section called "References".

What I posted is from two academic journals, it's no Glenn Beck, but it's something.

Well, a major discussion months back hinged on someone claiming that the USSR was the second-largest economy in the world when it was nowhere near close, and the cited source was a wiki that was completely and totally wrong. There are MAJOR inaccuracies in several of their wikis, some purposeful, some not. In any event, try to cite something besides Wikipedia every once in a while.

Fortunately, what I cited can be verified by looking up the academic journals it came from. There are errors in many articles, though, and some totally lack citation.

Next time, check the References section.

If the wiki has references why should it matter?

Because people can cite those things as fact. In the USSR economic discussion, it cited an old CIA Factbook from before the fall of the Soviet Union. It was completely and totally wrong.

The whole point of a reference is you can check them on your own and not take it at face value. Anyone who fails to do that has failed regardless of what they cite wiki or otherwise, no?

In fact, the wiki is still incorrect, and still uses the CIA Factbook. And the article is completely inaccurate and pro-Soviet in bias. It happens A LOT on Wikipedia. There are descriptions of events that are completely and totally false, like that of the so-called Hollywood Black Friday. It claims that "several scabs attempted to run the strikers down" in their cars. That is patently absurd.

If you don't have any comments on the studies I posted and it's citation (just google the studies, a lot comes up), go somewhere else.
