    Exclamation Earthquake in central Italy

    CNN Article

The Italian Civil Protection Agency said the magnitude 6.3 earthquake's death toll stood at more than 100. Other media accounts showed a wide range in reporting the number dead. More than 1,500 were hurt.
I know that we have some Italian forum members here. Let us know you folks are alright.

I just saw this on the news. I thought I was going to cry when they pulled a man weeping from the rubble. Poor people!

It appears that a relief group from my home state (Green Hope, NC) have already arrived other there.

I think there is an Italian ENTJ that posts here. That might be the best type to be in emergency scenarios.

The earthquake followed less than six hours after another quake hit the northern part of the country, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. That quake registered 4.6 and occurred about 55 km (35 miles) southeast of Bologna.

And three significant aftershocks -- ranging from magnitude 4.3 to 4.8 -- shook the area within six hours of the 6.3 quake.
FDG is in the northeastern part of Italy, yes? I know there's other members, but I forget whom... (apologies).

I also saw a quote (forget which article) saying that there had been earlier smaller quakes, but residents were assured by the government that they were normal and of "no concern."

I don't expect government and scientific agencies to be omnipotent, but I'm sure there's going to be a public backlash on account of that.
