Question What will happen to EUrope?

I will not create too big OP on purpose.

Will it ever become fully united?
Does it have the strenght to replace US if things there go very bad?
Will it become first democratic and atheistic entity in history.
What is the role of this continent in the modern world?

What do you think it will happen to his continent in the future?

I hope so. I fear we might not be there when both Croatia and France will merge, but as one of my fellow acquaintance said (Finkielkraut), "Europe is the next evolution of mankind!".

Does it have the strenght to replace US if things there go very bad?
In my opinion, the question is not to make a poliical entity that could rival with the US. They are our friends, our philosophical and political brethren, not our competitors. So, it's rather when the US would integrate into the UE, and why. When our family could reunite, at last.
We are the Western world. We are the heirs of the Enlightenment age.

And the goal is to unite mankind.

Will it become first democratic and atheistic entity in history.
Maybe, but you shouldn't say that too loud, especially the "atheistic" word.
    But we understand each other.

What is the role of this continent in the modern world?
Well, we have to prove whether "old nations" can unite despite centuries of wars and hatred, under a common ideal. And those ideals are democracy, human rights, and the end of ethnic and cultural discriminations.

We have to know if we can create a postmodern nation, something way ahead our traditional nation-states.

Are we the future? Can we believe enough in ourselves?

What do you think it will happen to his continent in the future?
    I don't know.

    O Freunde, nicht diese Töne!
    Sondern laßt uns angenehmere
    anstimmen und freudenvollere.
    Freude!

    Freude, schöner Götterfunken
    Tochter aus Elysium,
    Wir betreten feuertrunken,
    Himmlische, dein Heiligtum!
    Deine Zauber binden wieder
    Was die Mode streng geteilt;
    Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
    Wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

    Wem der große Wurf gelungen,
    Eines Freundes Freund zu sein;
    Wer ein holdes Weib errungen,
    Mische seinen Jubel ein!
Ja, wer auch nur eine Seele
    Sein nennt auf dem Erdenrund!
Und wer's nie gekonnt, der stehle
    Weinend sich aus diesem Bund!

    Freude trinken alle Wesen
    An den Brüsten der Natur;
    Alle Guten, alle Bösen
    Folgen ihrer Rosenspur.
Küsse gab sie uns und Reben,
    Einen Freund, geprüft im Tod;
    Wollust ward dem Wurm gegeben,
und der Cherub steht vor Gott.

    Froh, wie seine Sonnen fliegen
    Durch des Himmels prächt'gen Plan,
    Laufet, Brüder, eure Bahn,
Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen.

    Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
    Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt!

    --

    Joy, beautiful spark of Gods,
    Daughter of Elysium,
    We enter, fire-imbibed,
    Heavenly, thy sanctuary.
    Thy magic powers re-unite
    What custom's sword has divided
    Beggars become Princes' brothers
    Where thy gentle wing abides.

    Be embraced, millions!
This kiss to the entire world!

I do not think Europe has the military power to replace America. But I think they can meet the other criteria you have posted. Also you asked for the role of Europe, well currently it is hiding behind America's shadow, so only time will tell.

I'm not an expert on Europe, but there is one man in parliament who has been getting a lot of face time in the media this week.

What do you think it will happen to his continent in the future?
1.) Doubtful, but not inconcievable (odds are much worse if one in includes Russia and the western CIS countries as well as Turkey).
2.) Not even if it wanted to (with a few exceptions, such as France and Sweden, the demographic situation in Europe could best be described as an impending disaster). That will make the type of army necessary for superpower status virtually impossible, and (to a somewhat lesser but nonetheless significant degree) severly hamper the future economic potential of the continent.
3.) I think countries such as the Czech Republic and Latvia are already there. Anyway, though I doubt its relative absence would lead to greater happiness for the majority of Europeans, belief in religion is not necessary for a functioning democracy...Europe just needs to believe in itself (and in the classical liberal principles they discovered and formulated).
4.) Economic powerhouse and military lightweight, highly jaded about principles yet idealistic concerning means, and seemingly adrift in perpetual ennui.
5.) Demographic implosion in the medium-term (i.e. 15-25 years), accompanied by unpredictible reorganization of society in pursuit of new cultural equilibrium; what happens after that depends on whether Europe figures out a way to recover, though the EU institutions might be able to take advantage of the crises and expand their reach even further.

Despite all the aggravation they give us, they are closer to being our friends than most countries of the world.

No, cultural differences will always stand in the way to unity. At least for a very long time. Same can be said about the US however. There will always be cliques.

Does it have the strenght to replace US if things there go very bad?

It doesn't believe it needs too. And I agree on that. Unless the US is planning on hostile take over. :P That said, there's TONS and TONS of 'political air' in just about every country. The idea of democracy is pretty good, but the execution and evolution of democracy is a very slow and painful process. This very same process is also the source of many conflictions to countries outside of Europe.

Will it become first democratic and atheistic entity in history.

Well, in theory we already are. The EU (European Union) is already an entity. It just doesn't involve every country yet. But it does most.

What is the role of this continent in the modern world?

Hopefully, showing that one can prosper in a live and let live world without military domination or constant threat. It's a nice ideal.
