Texas is just like anywhere else.. Maybe we're different in some departments, but we definitely don't lack liberal thinking, atheistic teachings, or college kids in their most stereotypical cookie cutter trendy selves.

ajblaise, 44% of Texans voted for Obama

Election Center 2008 - Election Results & Politics News from CNN.com

Doesn't solidify their liberalism but, its not a bad indicator of reality (diversity within Texas), you'll find ideologies within states aren't as solid as you might believe.

Texas does have a large and growing minority population, which Obama did well with. The red state/blue state divide is definitely less accurate than the urban/rural divide.

"Republican" and "liberal" are not things people wanted to be called right now. "Conservative" is still OK, as are "Democrat" and, depending on where you are, "progressive."

They are fairly close on the sliding scale of ideologies, but they started to move farther apart socially in the past twenty years. As for economics, it's basically a decision between high taxes and big spending on the one hand, and moderate taxes and big spending on the other.

"Liberal" is in season, not as must as "Demcorat", but much more so than "Republican".

The 5th season called which ever way the wind is blowing.
everyone uses every function about evenly. take NE for example. if there are those who don't use it much, then why are there such massive amounts of people constantly flowing through Wallmart with 20 items or less?
