If you take issue with the footage, then you show me the footage where ANYONE on that station called any of these disaster events PRIOR to them happening... Burden of proof and all that noise...

The particular division was based in the U.K. beyond the U.S. jurisdiction to do anything about. But if I understand you, you do believe government has a role in the economy?

So my question in this particular instance would be what was the U.S. government supposed to do when A.I.G. willfully set up the division in the U.K. to avoid the regulation in place that prevents such behavior? And now that it's done watch should they do. Although I suppose your response would fit better in that thread than this one.

Speaking of people getting things right on CNBC

YouTube - The Recession Was Predicted 1 Year Before It Occurred, And The Man Who Predicted It Was Laughed At.

Edit: Only thing he missed were the credit default swaps, but nobody saw that coming.

Edit Edit: Ben Stein got this one totally wrong, wonder if he put his money where his mouth was, doubt it.

i don't really have a good answer about what should have been done with regards to this. what i can say is that now that all this has transpired, it will be easier for governments to try and cooporate more when it comes to economic regulation.

though, on the home front more could have been done. as i understand it, key government figures were seeking not to curb AIGs behavior but rather to fan the flames, so to speak.

Well, Jon Stewart just tore Jim Cramer apart. For those of you that missed it, I strongly suggest you find a way to watch it. It was good, to say the least.
