Eh, and in those cases, people also tend to get caught off guard when attacked. Individual animals have temperaments just like us, and as such, people tend to grow accustom to them as they would with humans. It's surprising to deal with a suddent about of extreme and previously unshown behavior.

I echo your thoughts. I never know why people assume other animals will never fly off the handle. Especially chimps, how many times have you seen how brutal those attacks can be? They can rip each other to pieces.
