    This even happens with other pets. My aunt had a cat that was totally "normal" and "docile" and randomly ripped her arm (skin) to shreds. Dogs also attack people.

    Not to say that I don't think this woman was totally in the wrong, but it isn't just a "chimp" thing.

    Geez oh man, listening to the tape she calls 911 and doesnt even give them any information - and why didn't she do anything else?

    Dogs and cats have been domesticated for centuries. In general, they're usually well-behaved and not wild animals. A chimpanzee, on the other hand, is used to living in the wild with other chimps. It is not a domesticated animal, and forcing it to be one is just ludicrous. It is expected to act in a non docile manner. That's why people don't own chimps.

    If I was forced to drink wine and sleep in the same bed as that lady, I may go a bit "wild" too. One weird story.
