    Default 13 Year old Father

Dad at 13 | Boy Alfie Patten, 13, becomes father of baby girl Maisie with girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, 15 | The Sun |News

That would be an awful situation to be in. Wow.

    Discuss.

I think the funny thing is how his girlfriend is only two years older, but looks twice his age.

Wow, that kid is 13? He looks closer to 9 to me.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Yeah he does look like he's below 10 for sure. It even said in the article that his voice hadn't broken. Is it even possible to produce sperm at 13? I forgot when I did actually, it was only like 5 or 6 years ago.

Yeah that sounds about right. So I'm 18... 12th grade. 12-5 = 7. I guess it is possible.

She looks like 15, he more like 7.
How could they have sex without knowing what happens?
It's gonna be hard for them.

I get the impression these kids didn't have the best home life.

Oh wow! I'm lost for words.
It wouldn't be hard to look twice the boys age, would it? LOL.
The whole situation makes me cringe.

I was thinking on it a bit more. What if I was one of the grandparents? Then I think, yeah but I'd never let that happen. But let's be honest, it can still happen no matter how attentive and responsible you are to your children. So I return to the question, what would I do if I was in the grandparent's shoes? What if?

Other than freak out, I'd plan like a mo'fo' probably. I'd start sockin' away a little bit at a time, no matter how small an amount for this kid's future. I'd also force my kid to take parenting classes in school. --I know that my high school actually had a day care at the high school, so that teen parents could take their child-parenting classes at the high school as curriculum and do it with their own children and spend time with them. I thought that was a GREAT program.-- I'd also make the kid work, part-time so as to not interfere with school work. He's too young for even a hardship work permit I suspect, but he could do odd jobs around the neighborhood for friends and family etc. I'd make sure he had a hand in supporting his child. I'm sure the grandparents will have to bear the greatest burden initially, but I'd hope that they would gradually expose the kids to more and more responsibility with each passing year so that hopefully, somewhere between 18-21 they were responsible for the majority of their child's care.

I know that some grandparents in similar situations opt to take on the child as their own. I have mixed feelings about that, but it depends on the home situation and the maturity and willingness of the teen parent I suppose.

Lord. Whatever the case, best wishes to all. They'll need 'em.
