Incidentally, I never actually elaborated on how I feel about something being a right or not.

But really it all depends, as most (I think all) country's with national healthcare have many procedures that aren't covered (like cosmetics, typically). So we come back to what is and isn't elective. And with that, we come back to iwakar's questions I'm unfortunately didn't answer, and that is, what it's and isn't a disability? We can keep breaking this down into what is and isn't debilitating, dysfuncitonal, or physically endangering.

I wouldn't advocate boundless healthcare, but the USA can do something much more generous (and public) than it currently is.

Gives a whole new meaning to: It takes a village to raise a child.

Accountability/Responsibility - she must learn these words.

And, she has hired a publicist? How about using that money for nannies? Or, curb the plastic surgeries? Or, consider giving some up for adoption?

This woman is a bad example because the details of her situation are not all known, but if she paid for the IVF with money that didn't come from the government, I philsophically don't have a problem with it.

Any $ she had, even if it was from an injury payment, was legally hers to do with what she wanted.

She claims to have had 6 embryos implanted and that 2 split into twins. As far as I know, the US does not restrict the # of embryos that can be implanted (I don't think - anyone have more info here?).

Just out of interest, does anyone who objects to this woman's actions consider themselves pro choice? If it isn't anyone else's business what a woman does reproductively in the case of abortion, why is it anyone's business if a woman makes a different choice, reproductively?

Imo, this lady appears to have, to say the least, some fairly substantial issues. But I'm extremely uncomfortable with the idea of government intervention in people's reproductive choices. It's not my business how many babies other people want to have. I think the Duggars are kinda nuts, too, but I would strongly oppose any attempts to intervene with their personal choices.
