As a member of neither party, I find it highly unlikely that I would vote for any Republican candidate in the next election. Someone like Ron Paul will never have a chance in that party because party officials won't allow it.

The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Exactly. I'm not Republican (or Democrat) but picking her was a desperate last attempt at attention. She is wholly unqualified to hold any position of power and is just like that crazy lady who legitimized the rigged election in FL for Bush.

These women are attention whores who like personal glory and status, abuse their positions for personal means, curry favors, and don't understand nor care about sound principles of governance, democracy, accountability, or visibility. They really don't. They're clueless and IMHO have the classic profiles of noblesse oblige and cavalier corruption.

I think it's disgusting that these are the women being shot into the limelight by men in power. McCain really thought he'd get women voters by sticking an attractive underqualified woman on his arm? Sheesus.

So no, if I were Republican, I'd be *pissed* that she was put on the presidential ticket. I'm not so essentialist and unthinking that I'm going to vote for someone just because they look more like me than the other candidate. What they're trying to do is transparent and to me, insulting.

Seriously - could a Palin supporter (if you're out there) explain to me what exactly the deciding factor is that would make them vote for her?

Over Obama? As the lesser of two "evils"...I already gave my reasons. At least one other person has given his own reasons.

Extending from my previous answer, to me the question mostly narrows down to "Why would someone choose a Republican candidate over a Democratic one?" And the answer is, "differences in political opinion." There are some other factors, but this is a very strong one.

I know a handful of people, including most of my family, who would vote for Sarah Palin if she ran. She would have supporters, but i highly doubt any respectable GOP member would actually nominate her.

That said, I'm not a republican, AND I'd love to see Palin run against Obama. I choose intellectual superiority and open mindedness over Sarah Palin any day of the week.
