These soldiers in particular have given their lives, limbs, etc in service. They have distinguised themselves among their peers as deserving of a medal that is arguably the highest personal achievement you can reach as a person in this country. Regardless of whether they personally agree with whatever their orders are, they carry them out, trusting that those back home have the wisdom and/or courage to make the right decision for America and its people. The types of people who are attracted to the military are those with an extreme admiration for honor, tradition, and duty and take pride in representing themselves and their family in service. From this point of view, if the leader of my country and my military were not present at this celebration, but was spending time with celebrities who I, as a member of the military, thought not as deserving of the attention of the President, I would feel a little dejected.
Like I said. I can see why others are offering criticism. But I would not read into the absence of the President as indicative of some type of intentional slight, or indictment of the military.
OMG that President Xarxak III is pissing me off! I can't believe he signed the "Jupiterians Eat Free on Wednesdays" bill! What a bunch of lousy freeloaders! And to think he promised us a tax cut from 250 percent of our income to only 233 percent. I haven't seen my reduction yet, and I ride the skybeam like every other tax-paying American. FOR SHAME! :steam:
