I'd be wary of people purporting to speak for an entire group of people (of which they're not a member and to which they are antagonistic) about their inner feelings toward other people . . . Absent a survey or such.
It's almost always ass-talk.

Things I have read and seen are what have lead to my belief, things like this.

Why Blacks and Koreans Clash - TIME
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Scientific and convincing. And not at all time and place specific/relevant.

Sounds like hogwash to me.

He said, we will defeat our enemies.

And invited us to send more SAS in country, identify the leaders and kill them.

He also recognises that an important part of the war effort is to restore business confidence so that investors will invest and bankers lend.

God speed.

The comment you referenced, heart, occurred further along in the thread as you may have noticed.

And yes, I'd agree with Victor on your apology style. It's quite political. Thanks for the effort at understanding, nonetheless. Careful reading would help you understand me better.
Okay, next time I won't make the apology public, if that's what you want. Basically you've pretty much said it was meaningless to you, merely an "effort".

I have often disgreed with you at times when I did read you carefully and there are times and issue when I agree with you. This one thread has nothing to do with my overall understanding of where you are coming from.

Nevertheless I was having problems with my eyes and fatigue yesturday and shouldn't have been on the board at all. I made a mistake and based on that mistake I made a misjudgment. I have no problem admitting this if I really feel it has happened.

If Victor was talking to me last night, making some kind of chiding remark, I was too dense to get it. Sorry Victor, if that happened. Nothing like putting some great wit out on someone and then having it fly over their heads.

I don't think I have been making any chiding remarks to you.

Actually, I didn't find her hat to be very dignified at all. It was big and boisterous and loud. And I loved it, 10-inch purple bow and all. The end of Rev. Lowery's benediction wasn't formal either, but I enjoyed it.

You say you'd like us not to have to refer to each other by color, but you also say you were embarrassed for "every dignified Black person" in the audience. We're not colorblind, least of all the people who insist they are.

It was where you said:

Anja seems to have thought the "you" meant me (the poster heart) because you posted right underneath me.

I read the "you" as meaning those of us in the United States because I am more used to Victor responding as an Australian speaking to an American audience. I took as him being watchfully hopeful about Obama, as are many of us here in the USA.

Get Back or Black, Brown and White
This little song that i'm singin' about,
People you know it's true
If you're black and gotta work for a living,
This is what they will say to you,
They says, "if you was white, should be all right,
If you was brown, stick around,
But as you's black, hmm brother, get back, get back, get back"
I was in a place one night
They was all having fun
They was all buyin' beer and wine,
But they would not sell me none
They said, "if you was white, should be all right,
If you was brown, stick around,
But if you black, hmm brother, get back, get back, get back"
Me and a man was workin' side by side
This is what it meant
They was paying him a dollar an hour,
And they was paying me fifty cent
They said, "if you was white, 't should be all right,
If you was brown, could stick around,
But as you black, hmm boy, get back, get back, get back"
I went to an employment office,
Got a number 'n' i got in line
They called everybody's number,
But they never did call mine
They said, "if you was white, should be all right,
If you was brown, could stick around,
But as you black, hmm brother, get back, get back, get back"
I hope when sweet victory,
With my plough and hoe
Now i want you to tell me brother,
What you gonna do about the old jim crow?
Now if you was white, should be all right,
If you was brown, could stick around,
But if you black, whoa brother, get back, get back, get back

Yes you are quite right. We are hopeful and we are watching. And we wish him well, and offer our full support.
