If they are domestic cats they are already being taken care of so would have no need to develop an agricultural based or hunter/gatherer society.

note: politics goes first because essentially it is what happens when you have 2 or more people in a group that has to make decisions. now, if by politics you meant government then it would go probably with or after civilization.

    Have I forgotten something?
    If so, what?

    The order is undefined.
I do not say it is correct.

    My memory is bad.
    What did I forget?

What is the order of events?
    In history.
history is more of a blur than steps... agriculture runs together with the advent of languages and culture, hunting and gathering ran together with them as well. Sometimes cultures fell and went back a bit along the line.

Order is a myth- history is written by those who survived and conquored. At any given time every step of history is currently occuring- cultural evolution and devolution.

    That's what's fun about living

The end of the order of Hitler did not.

They had US. and British troops in both places.

Shall I play a thought experiment? Assume if you will a tribe of proto-humans, say in Papua New Guinea or South America.

They have lived for thousands - perhaps tens of thousands of years - and attained the highest order of civilisation.

How did they get there? What was the order. Let me suggest, just for fun,
Civilization. Agriculture. Specific language. Politics. Trade. Even more fun, jumble them up, in any order you chose. Reverse the order. As this is a thought experiment you can do this.

One day the entire tribe is wiped out - perhaps by bird flu, a marauding tribe, or a meteorite strike (a trillion unlikely possibilities).

Their history is gone. Any influence on the world - forgotten. Who will tell a dead man's story. The victor in the fight? The meteor?

This tribe is an invisible dot. A million such tribes may have existed - but only the luckiest tribe remains to join the dots.

    All the best.
Thank you. All the best to you as well, bananatrombones.

    Good questions.
I shall come to the order later.

Who will tell the dead man's story?
The victor tells only lies. The meteor does not tell anything.
Unless it was a meteor that wiped them out, the archeologist will tell the story?
With a little assistance on the part of the linguist and of the biologist, perhaps?

Politics surely goes ahead of language, a good observation.
Can you divide politics and trade?
Is it possible politics and trade are inseparable and they precede agriculture because agriculture cannot exist without them?

Language and civilization are inseparable, too? The end of the line?
The end of the line leads to destruction, does it not?
