    I noticed that, too.

I wish the article did more to provide a better summary of the events that led up to the removal of the child.

+ 1. The article didn't say that the names were the reason. It said they couldn't disclose the reason. Big difference. The names are just the only thing we know about right now, so they're being assumed to be the reason.

I once heard that in here the name combination Antti Kristian is illegal because it might be perceived satanic, but I checked and there is Antti Kristian in facebook.

Well, yeah, that is why there are names on certain days of calendar. Saints, you know.

Yes. That has to be it. If it's merely for their names, that is a misuse of law. Not that it isn't unfortunate the kids will be judged later on in life, and miss out on opportunities due to their names... Yet, that's not enough for them to be taken from their home.

True. Genocides and socialist bloodbaths require government.

I'll go with that for the one.

Everyone involved has been "taking hits off the stupid bong" on this one.

I doubt I'd never name my kid "Magic."
(Then again, it worked for Magic Johnson.)

I've also wondered why someone nowadays would name his kid "Jesus."
I mean, you're just setting a really lousy precendent for life expectancy, even if the kid is a miracle worker.

Whether the kids end up with their parents or not, hopefully, this ends with them having to change their names to less offensive ones.

The amount of government intervention into peoples' private lives is pretty scary. I don't like it.

Unfortunately we have an increasing number of people who don't seem to be able to make good decisions for themselves and government has a way of taking over when it sees stupidity. Sometimes I wish everyone would toe the line so that the government wouldn't have some excuse to step in and change laws.

I have no idea knowing whether these people committed physical abuse against their children or not. So, how it's possible to make a judgement about it is beyond me.

I will say that there are many forms of child abuse besides the one which leaves physical scars and it is usually difficult in those cases to legally remove a child from the home.

One indicator that parents are abusive is when they are using the child as an object of their own self-gratification and it certainly appears so in this case. However that practice is so widespread that most young, while resenting their parents' misplaced "guidance," assume that it's how it 'posed to be.

Anyway, I'll bet Ma and Pa wish now they hadn't been so eager to call attention to themselves!
