Ahah, yeah somehow the downer stuff seems to catch people's eyes. I know if I see something depressing somewhere I will end up seeing it in a forum.

iwakar - no reason to get all hotbed issue on this. It wasn't even the child's mom. It's bizarre to be blaming people's ideologies for this tragedy.

I really wonder if this babysitter was on meth. People strung out on meth who have kids have done some very bizarre and brutal things to their children. I saw a documentary a while ago about meth and domestic abuse (in some places 80% of reported domestic abuse is crystal meth related). And a common reason why the acts occur, is to get the baby/child to stop crying.

She's a teen parent. The one year old child was hers.

It's bizarre to think there's no correlation between social issues and personal tragedies.

So the fact that she is a parent and didn't get an abortion explains this abuse of a baby she was babysitting?

You could argue that she sees less worth in children because abortion is accepted in our country.

Or you could argue that she is a callous freak (or was a on drugs, probably more chance of that) and that the abortion argument has no place here.

    Indeed.

Each of us can argue our own point as we see fit.

What amazes is me is how the hell this woman thought she would get away with it. That's quite a price to pay to watch television undisturbed.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."
